Fresh details have emerged regarding the alleged suicide of Islamabad Industrial Area Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, suggesting that the officer was battling dengue fever and had been denied medical leave despite repeated requests.
According to official documents, SP Adeel Akbar’s dengue test came back positive, and doctors had strongly advised him to take complete rest. However, departmental authorities reportedly emphasized “work and only work,” even as his health deteriorated.
Sources confirmed that SP Adeel Akbar had formally applied for a three-day medical leave from October 20 to 22, submitting his request to the Islamabad DIG. He also forwarded his medical report and leave request to the AIG (Establishment), informing them about his condition.
Despite providing all required documentation, including a doctor’s note recommending rest, his leave was not granted. The documents show that the officer continued to perform his duties in the Industrial Area zone under pressure, even as his condition worsened.
Medical report confirms dengue infection
The medical report, now in the public domain, confirms that Adeel Akbar’s dengue test was positive. Doctors advised him to rest and refrain from official duties until recovery. However, according to internal sources, departmental directives prioritized maintaining operations over the officer’s health, leaving him overworked and fatigued.
