The number of dengue cases in Rawalpindi has reached 1,072, with 23 new infections reported in the past 24 hours.
According to the District Health Authority, 41 patients suspected of carrying the virus are currently under treatment in hospitals across the city.
Since January 1 this year, 5,781,648 homes have been inspected, from which dengue larvae were found in over 182,000. In addition, 1,612,885 other sites were checked, of which 25,089 tested positive. In total, larvae were recovered and destroyed at 278,848 locations.
A total of 4,551 First Information Reports have been registered for violation of dengue Standard Operating Procedures. Authorities have sealed 1,862 buildings and issued approximately 3,500 challans. Fines amounting to Rs150,000 have been imposed.
The Health Department has intensified preventive activities in identified dengue hotspot areas.
Earlier this year, 16,345 patients were screened, out of which 1,072 were confirmed positive for dengue.
