An American woman who remained indoors for a week due to illness won a lottery prize of $100,000 (approximately Rs28 million) after stepping out for the first time.
The incident took place in Cooper County, Missouri. The woman explained that she had been unwell for a week and unable to leave her home. Once her health slightly improved, she went outside for a walk.
She bought a cold drink and a lottery ticket named Triple Cash Crossword from a store on Main Street in Boonville. On opening the ticket, she discovered a prize of $100,000. She could not believe it and immediately went to another store to confirm the result. The shopkeeper also expressed surprise upon seeing the ticket.
According to Missouri Lottery officials, the woman will receive her prize money soon.
