A total of 174,074 people have been evacuated to safe locations amid ongoing rescue operations across flood-affected regions.
The prime minister chaired a high-level meeting to review the national flood situation and assess the progress of relief efforts. The briefing confirmed that rescue operations remain active in districts impacted by the River Sutlej flood, with no reported loss of life in those areas so far.
The meeting was informed that local populations are being safely evacuated from the flood-hit area near Lehri Bund in Narowal, and that restoration of electricity is under way in flood-affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Gilgit-Baltistan, a two-kilometre section of the National Highway remains submerged, with restoration efforts ongoing.
The briefing said that high flood levels at Ganda Singh Wala and Sulemanki on the River Ravi, as well as at Jassar and Marala. A severe flood situation was also reported in Nala Dek.
Forecasts indicate heavy rainfall is expected in the Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions, as well as in parts of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The premier directed that rescue operations be intensified in districts affected by the River Sutlej flood. He instructed authorities to accelerate the evacuation of stranded individuals and to ensure the prompt delivery of food, medicines and tents to the impacted areas.
He also directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman to maintain close coordination with all relevant disaster management institutions.
