Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said on Sunday that the extension granted to former Army Chief General (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was a historic mistake and issued an apology to the nation.
Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad, alongside leaders of Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP), Qaiser acknowledged the error and assured the public that such decisions would not be repeated in future.
Qaiser sai that the decision to extend General Bajwa’s tenure was wrong from the outset and said, ‘We consider it a historic error and apologise to the entire nation. We will not become part of any such decision again.’
During the same press conference, the alliance leaders announced plans to meet all foreign diplomats and said that every available platform would be used against injustice. The current government was also described as "illegal, undemocratic and economically failed".
Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair criticised the government’s economic policies, claiming that the middle class had been devastated since 2022, the country had become buried under debt, and the elite remained focused on wealth accumulation.
Opposition alliance head Mahmood Achakzai said that public frustration was mounting and national conditions were deteriorating. He asserted that fair and transparent elections were the only solution to the crisis.
