Pakistan hosted a high-level Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Islamabad under the theme 'Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace'.
The event brought together top military leaders from across Central and South Asia, including the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
The event, held at the invitation of Pakistan’s military leadership, aimed to deepen "regional security cooperation, military diplomacy, and strategic dialogue" among participating nations in the face of evolving security threats.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir personally welcomed the visiting delegations. During his address, he stressed the importance of military cooperation and strategic partnerships in today’s era marked by complex and interconnected threats.
“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, the imperative for deeper military-to-military cooperation, strategic dialogue, and mutual trust is paramount. Pakistan remains fully committed to working with partner nations to build a secure and prosperous regional environment,” said Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The conference featured comprehensive discussions on regional security dynamics, the strategic landscape of Central and South Asia, with a strong focus on security collaborations, enhancing training initiatives, and "facilitating the exchange of best practices in counterterrorism and other defence and security endeavours".
Participants agreed on the importance of continued cooperation in areas such as:
- Joint military exercises
- Counter-terrorism operations
- Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts
- Sharing of best practices and strategic insights
ISPR stated that participants praised Pakistan’s leadership, hospitality, and commitment to regional peace, describing the country as a key player in defence diplomacy and collaborative security efforts.
The conference concluded with a collective reaffirmation of shared values, including respect for national sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, and a united front against common threats such as terrorism, cyberattacks, and violent extremism.
In his closing remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to peace, regional stability, and constructive engagement.
“We are fully committed to working with partner countries to jointly confront security challenges and promote sustainable peace in the region,” he said.
