Investigations are ongoing into the mysterious death of actress Humaira Asghar, whose body was found earlier this month in a flat located in Karachi’s upscale Defence area.
While police have retrieved critical digital and physical evidence, officials say no conclusive breakthrough has been made so far.
According to investigation sources, complete mobile data from the actress’s three phones has been obtained, revealing she contacted 14 individuals on October 7, 2024, shortly before her death.
Among the last contacts was a drama director now based in Islamabad, who has since been approached by the authorities. However, none of the contacted individuals have responded significantly or provided leads, investigators added.
The police have also recovered:
-
Three mobile phones (all SIMs registered in Humaira Asghar’s name)
-
A damaged tablet, which has yet to be accessed
-
A personal diary
-
Several documents and bank cards
Interestingly, two of the phones had no password, while passwords for the third phone and the tablet were found written in the diary. “We have found 2,215 contacts across the three phones, but no suspicious communication has surfaced yet,” a senior official confirmed.
Authorities have also contacted Humaira’s bank to assess her financial standing, as her bank card was recovered from the scene. However, the bank has not yet submitted a formal report. Investigators believe her account history could provide crucial insights into her recent activities and potential stressors.
The faulty tablet, considered potentially significant, remains inaccessible, and experts are working to recover data from it.
Phone records further reveal that Humaira attempted to contact her brother in early October, though it is unclear whether the communication was successful.
