Pakistan will raise the Kashmir issue and India’s alleged use of water as a weapon in the upcoming meeting between Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir and US President Donald Trump, senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said on Tuesday.
Speaking on SAMAA TV’s Nadeem Malik Live, Mr Sanaullah — who serves as an adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif — said the meeting carries immense diplomatic significance as Pakistan looks to secure American understanding on critical regional issues.
He stressed that “India’s attempts to weaponise water” must be internationally condemned and that Washington will be urged to play its part in discouraging such moves.
“If India blocks our water, it will be tantamount to war,” he warned, adding that the meeting will also push for a negotiated settlement on Kashmir.
While official confirmation of the meeting’s schedule is awaited, the PML-N leader maintained that both regional peace and economic cooperation will figure prominently in the discussions, with a focus on “bilateral trade, water security, and peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes.”
Mr Sanaullah said Pakistan would reiterate its position that Kashmir cannot be sidelined and must remain central to any broader peace framework. “The United States has a role to play, directly or indirectly, in ensuring that the region does not plunge into another crisis due to India’s unilateral actions,” he added.
