Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly opposed the recent increase in salaries and perks of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman Senate, terming it “financial vulgarity.”
In a message posted on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif criticized the substantial hike in salaries and privileges of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chairman, and Deputy Chairman of the Senate. He said the extraordinary rise in financial benefits is excessive and falls under the category of "financial obscenity."
Calling for empathy toward the public, Asif urged officials to keep the daily struggles of ordinary citizens in mind. “All our honor and dignity are owed to them,” he added, emphasizing the need for responsible and modest governance.
