PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, highlighted the disparity in the legal treatment of political figures, stating that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz were granted bail just 70 days after their cases were filed, while the PTI founder remains behind bars even after more than 600 days.
“The PTI founder is in jail and still awaiting justice,” said Barrister Gohar. “We are hopeful that our case will be heard on Tuesday or Wednesday.”
He also revealed that he and his legal team had met with the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
“We submitted a formal request to the Chief Justice regarding our case,” he said, adding that the case was politically motivated and they expected it to be dismissed soon.
Barrister Gohar further stated that the Chief Justice had assured them that their case would be scheduled for a hearing next week.
PTI founder refuses to join investigation for second consecutive day
The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again refused to join the investigation being conducted by a Lahore-based team, declining to undergo planned forensic tests for the second consecutive day.
According to DSP Javed Asif, the investigation team had scheduled polygraph, photogrammetric, and voice-matching tests. However, the PTI founder conveyed his refusal in a written statement sent to the investigators.
In the statement, the PTI founder asserted that the prosecution was attempting to trap him through these tests, and therefore, he would not comply.
The refusal marks another standoff between the PTI founder and law enforcement officials amid ongoing legal proceedings.
Imran Khan never refused dialogue with establishment: PTI chairman Gohar
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has clarified that Imran Khan never ruled out talks with the establishment — only with the current government.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after meeting the PTI founder, Barrister Gohar said Imran Khan had always maintained that the door for dialogue with the establishment was never closed. "He believes there should be dialogue, as he has stated before," Gohar added.
According to Gohar, the PTI founder said, "The army is mine, the country is mine. We want unity in the nation." He noted that the recent issue of Imran Khan's refusal to undergo a polygraph test was not discussed during their meeting.
Barrister Gohar also praised the armed forces, stating that their strong response had elevated national morale and dignity. “We stand with our country, our army, and our people,” he emphasized.
He further dismissed speculation about any in-house political change, confirming that Imran Khan had already denied such claims.
