Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to express gratitude for Azerbaijan's support during the recent crisis in South Asia.
The Prime Minister thanked President Aliyev for his unwavering backing, describing it as a reflection of the deep affection and strong bond the Azerbaijani leader holds for the people of Pakistan. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan for their solidarity with Pakistan during these challenging times.
The Prime Minister informed President Aliyev that Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire understanding with India in the interest of regional peace and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to upholding the ceasefire.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy a long-standing and sustainable friendship, noting that the two nations have always stood by each other like true brothers.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended a formal invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan, which the Azerbaijani leader graciously accepted.
President Aliyev congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz on Pakistan’s remarkable success and welcomed Pakistan’s efforts for peace, particularly its decision to maintain the ceasefire. He expressed Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan across all sectors.
