China on Saturday called on Pakistan and India to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions, stating that peace and stability between the two South Asian neighbours is essential for regional security.
Chinese Foreign Ministry in a statement said that Beijing is closely monitoring the situation and is willing to play a constructive role in defusing tensions.
“Reducing tensions is important not only for Pakistan and India but also for the stability of the region,” the spokesperson said. “We urge both sides to remain calm and exercise restraint.”
