The Supreme Court's constitutional bench has rejected the request to immediately remove objections related to petitions seeking an investigation into alleged electoral rigging. Instead, the court has granted lawyers time to prepare their arguments on the case’s merits.
During the hearing, petitions filed by PTI founder and Sher Afzal Marwat regarding the probe into alleged election fraud were reviewed. The petitioners' lawyers urged the court to dismiss the objections raised by the Registrar's Office and formally number the petitions. However, the court declined this request.
Lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi argued that only a chamber appeal was scheduled for a hearing Friday. In response, Justice Jamal Mandokhail instructed the lawyers to present their arguments on the case's merits, assuring them that the court would hear their submissions.
Rahi further requested that the petitions be numbered and time be given for case preparation, but the court dismissed the plea to remove objections immediately.
The five-member bench, led by Justice Aminuddin Khan, adjourned the case indefinitely.
