The revamped Karachi was handed over to the International Cricket Council (ICC) as the highly-anticipated Champions Trophy was around the corner.
According to details, the tournament will be kickstart in Pakistan from February 19, when the hosts will take on New Zealand in the opening match. The opening ceremony will be held at the Karachi stadium, for which the preparations had been sped up.
The Karachi stadium had been handed over to the ICC for branding. The broadcasters had started making arrangements in line with the ICC's requirements.
Moreover, according to the report, the baggy cam, spider cam and hawkeye system will be installed at the Karachi stadium.
The ICC officials, match officials, anti-corruption and anti-doping units will render the services at the stadium's new building.
For the Champions Trophy, the cameras of the match referee and other organisers have also been arranged at the new building.
The officials had also taken a review of the command and control.
Pakistan will look to defend their Champions Trophy title, which they clinched back in 2017.
It is pertinent to note that the Indian cricket team had refused to travel to Pakistan by making excuses about the security issues, due to which their matches will be held in line with the hybrid model at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
