With the crackdown against Afghans living illegally in Pakistan continuing unabatedly as the October 31 deadline approaches, a large number of illegal immigrants are returning to their homeland at the Nowshera Azakhil Center of the United Nations Subsidiary Organization for Refugees.
According to reports, the trucks loaded with goods at the refugee center of the United Nations Subsidiary in Nowshera Azakhil belong to Afghans who are returning home with their families. So far this year, 1,362 families have voluntarily returned to Afghanistan, while 204 families returned last month.
Speaking to Samaa TV, an Afghan immigrant expressed good wishes for Pakistan and said that he has lived in Pakistan and learned a lot, however, he is now returning to his homeland after living in the country for the past 40 years.
The United Nations subsidiary for Afghan refugees also pays $357 to each Afghan family member upon repatriation. On arrival in Afghanistan, $700 are given separately to the entire family. The Afghan family who has to go back first registers at the center.
It is estimated that around 20 Afghan families return from the Izakhel Center every day.
The deadline for illegal Afghans to leave Pakistan is fast approaching, and many Afghans are rushing to return home. The United Nations subsidiary for Afghan refugees is providing assistance to those who are returning voluntarily.
