Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan expressed grave concerns over the current state of the judiciary and the overall governance system in Pakistan.
In an informal interaction with the media at Adiala Jail, he claimed that the entire system, including the Supreme Court and the economy, is on the verge of collapse, and accused the government of deliberately trying to undermine the judiciary.
"Everyone knows what is going on in the Supreme Court since yesterday," he remarked.
The former prime minister alleged that the government is bent on destroying the Supreme Court by ensuring that judges from both the Supreme Court and high courts become subservient. "They have destroyed the country and are now focused on destroying the Supreme Court," he claimed.
Imran Khan also criticized Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, claiming that they are "one and the same." He further alleged that the chief election commissioner is aware that he could face charges under Article 6 of the Constitution for his role in alleged election fraud, which is why he is brushing the matter under the carpet.
"Their aim is that their fraud is not exposed and the PTI does not see a rise in popularity," Imran claimed.
The PTI founder claimed the entire world had recognized the February 8 election as fraudulent. He raised questions about the May 9 incidents, where violence broke out following his arrest, and demanded to know the whereabouts of CCTV footage from that day. "They themselves set the fire during the May 9 incidents," he alleged.
Imran Khan also accused the government of suppressing PTI by preventing the party from holding public meetings and rallies. "It's the chief justice's job is to protect fundamental rights," he remarked. Imran questioned whether political rallies in the summer ever ended at 6pm.
The PTI founder also emphasized the role of the Chief Justice in protecting fundamental rights and expressed concerns over the judiciary's independence. "What is happening since yesterday is clear—the Chief Justice and the Chief Election Commissioner are one," he asserted.
The PTI leader concluded by reiterating that the government’s primary objective is to prevent the exposure of electoral fraud and to keep PTI from rising to power. He criticized the government's handling of the economy, which he said was spiraling towards collapse, and reiterated that the nation was fully aware of the ongoing issues within the judicial system.
