The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday quashed a petition challenging Ishaq Dar's appointment as deputy prime minister.
According to details, the LHC had dismissed the petition by declaring it "inadmissible." The petitioner was of the view that Ishaq Dar was appointed the foreign minister, asserting that there is no post of deputy prime minister in the constitution.
"Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the deputy prime minister against the constitution," the petitioner claimed.
The petitioner stated: "The court should declare the appointment of Ishaq Dar as the deputy PM null and void."
Last month, PM Shehbaz Sharif appointed Ishaq Dar as the deputy prime minister.
The appointment was confirmed through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The notification stated: “The Prime Minister has been pleased to designate Mr Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan with immediate effect and until further orders.”
