President Asif Ali Zardari has officially sanctioned the appointment of new governors in three key provinces of Pakistan, namely Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan.
PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi has been named as the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while his party fellow Salim Haider Khan has been appointed as the governor of Punjab. Additionally, Jafar Khan Mandokhel has been selected to serve as the governor of Balochistan.
Dera Ismail Khan-resident Kundi will be sworn in as the 36th governor of KP at 7:30pm tonight. In the recent general elections of February 8, he was defeated by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur from NA-44.
The appointments were made through a presidential decree issued by President Zardari, in accordance with Article 101(a) of the Constitution.
On Friday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto met with Prime Minister Shehbaz at the PM House where both discussed the overall political situation of the country. Both leaders also had lunch together.

SAMAA TV reported that they decided to appoint Kundi as the KP governor. The PPP leader has been the deputy speaker of the National Assembly in 2008.
Also, PPP leaders of the Punjab chapter, including Raja Pervez Ashraf, Hassan Murtaza, and Shehzad Saeed Cheema, met with party Chairman Bilawal at Zardari House in Islamabad and nominated Sardar Saleem Haider for appointment as the next Punjab governor.
Sardar Salim and Nadeem Afzal Chan also joined the meeting. The leaders nominated Salim as Punjab governor. “I am being made the governor of Punjab,” he confirmed later.

Sardar Salim Haider is a resident of the Dhurnal village of Fateh Jang tehsil in Attock district.
