Faisalabad — the third largest city of Pakistan — there is no regular public transport service and millions of citizens are forced to take personal rides or ride on motorcycle rickshaws.
Residents of Manchester Pakistan have been deprived of public transport facilities for decades. Every day millions of people travel on motorcycle rickshaws to go to factories, offices, schools, and colleges.
A woman told SAMAA TV, “When we travel on qingqi rickshaws we have to sit together with men, even the drivers don't care, they make women sit next to men. It’s very difficult, there should be public transport that has separate seats for women and men with proper facilitate.”
According to the provincial transport minister, public transport service is starting soon in the industrial city.
Provincial Minister of Transport Bilal Akbar said 110 buses are under the import phase which will ply on seven routes at the end of this year or by the start of next year.
Several citizens complained lack of a transport system created parking issues and also became a major cause of traffic problems.
