A local court in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant for former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in connection with a diplomatic passport case.
The court also rejected his application seeking exemption from personal appearance.
During proceedings at the District and Sessions Court, the judge dismissed Tanveer Ilyas’s plea for exemption from attendance and directed authorities to ensure his arrest and production before the court.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has already registered a case against the former AJK premier over the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport.
The court has adjourned further hearing of the case until November 24, instructing the FIA to submit a progress report on the execution of the arrest warrant.
