The case
On January 29, 1997, a seven-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan upheld the dismissal of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto as chief executive and the dissolution of the federal cabinet and the National Assembly by the then president Sardar Farooq Khan Leghari on November 5, 1996.
Immediately after the above judgment, the petitioners, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Yousaf Raza Gilani, filed a review petition, which could not be heard for 28 years
