Pakistan's cricket team captain, Babar Azam, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Arshad Nadeem for his historic achievement of winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
In a post on his social media account X, Babar Azam posted that the victory marks the return of an Olympic gold medal to Pakistan "after 30 years", bringing immense pride to the country.
Babar Azam, a sports icon in his own right, expressed his admiration and joy for Arshad's remarkable accomplishment. "Heartiest congratulations to Arshad Nadeem for this wonderful achievement," Babar said in a statement. "You have made the entire nation proud."
"After 30 long years, the gold is back in Pakistan! Huge congratulations to @arshadnadeem29 for this incredible achievement. You've made the entire nation proud," he posted on X.
Earlier, Babar Azam extended his best wishes to the javelin star Arshad Nadeem, as he prepared for the final event of the sport at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Babar Azam had recorded a video message expressing his support for Arshad, who qualified for the javelin throw final with an impressive throw of 86.59 meters in his first attempt during the qualification round on Tuesday.
