PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has fixed Rs3900 maund and announced to start wheat procurement drive it has been decided to start the process of purchasing wheat at the government level from May 7.
The KP government claimed to take special measures for ‘transparency’ in the purchase of wheat from farmers.
The official price of wheat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been fixed at Rs3900 per maund.
NAB and anti-corruption representatives are involved in the process of monitoring the purchase. CCTV cameras have been installed in all warehouses
The procurement process in the districts will continue from Tuesday, May 7 to May 15.
Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts were entrusted with the responsibilities. KP chief minister directed officials for the wheat procurement process.
How farmers will get payments?
It is reported that payment of money to farmers will be made through cheque.
KP Food Secretary Zarif Al-Mani said wheat will be bought on a first-come and first-served basis.
Zarif Almani said a special app for transparency has also been introduced.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produced less than a third of its wheat while over two-thirds wheat requirement is met from Punjab.
