Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had planned to send its opponents to jail for 10 years.
Addressing the corner meeting in Lahore, Rafique said: "Nawaz Sharif had not taken any political revenge and showed patience."
He cited the politics of the 1980s, saying, "Both the PML and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had made mistakes in the 1980s. Later, both parties realised that there was no need to lock horns with each other."
"We [PML-N] did not stage any long marches during the PPP's tenure."
Recounting the PML-N's previous tenure, Rafique said: "When we voted into power in 2013, Nawaz Sharif straightaway went to Banigala and invited the PTI founder to come and join hands with us."
– PML-N does not believe in political vendetta –
Few days back, Rafique said that his party does not believe in the political vendetta.
Addressing the workers' convention in Lahore, Rafique said: "Today, the country does not need leadership that embraces hatred. The vision of the PML-N is to bring stability and prosperity to the country."
"We [PML-N] have a history of ending the menace of terrorism and providing employment opportunities. Our manifesto revolves around developing the country," Rafique said.
"The opponents are asking about the PML-N's narrative," he said.
Taking a jibe at the PTI founder, Rafique said: "You [PTI founder] had tried to drag the country into the civil war. We do not want such a leadership that incites the children to stand against the state institutions."
