Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on his party’s election victory during a telephone conversation, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Bangladesh’s leadership.
During the call, the prime minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to Rahman on what he described as a historic and decisive win in the general elections. He also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the polls, stating that the elections reflect the democratic aspirations of the Bangladeshi nation.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to collaborate with the Bangladeshi leadership and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation for regional peace and development.
He also paid tribute to Khaleda Zia for her significant contributions and leadership role.
The prime minister invited Rahman to visit Pakistan at the earliest convenience, while the BNP chairman extended a reciprocal invitation to Sharif to visit Bangladesh. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the days ahead.
