Internet services were restored in Qila Abdullah on Monday after being suspended for 25 days, officials and residents confirmed. In Kalat, mobile internet was also restored in the city nearly a month after being shut down on August 6, though residents said surrounding rural areas remain without service.
In Barkhan, mobile data services were partially restored after being suspended for 26 days.
Mobile internet services were also restored in Kohlu after being shut down since August 6, marking a 25-day suspension. In Duki, internet services were restored except for Ufone users, while in Loralai, mobile internet service has also resumed.
The suspensions in Qila Abdullah, Kalat, Barkhan, Kohlu, Duki and Loralai had severely disrupted communication, online education, trade, and banking services, causing widespread difficulties for local communities.
Balochistan has witnessed repeated internet shutdowns in recent years, particularly in border districts and areas hit by security operations.
Authorities often cite security concerns and cross-border militancy as the main reasons for these suspensions, but rights groups and digital activists have criticized the blackouts, calling them a violation of citizens’ right to information and freedom of expression.
The latest restoration has brought relief to residents, although many remain concerned about recurring outages in the province, which continue to affect daily life and economic activity.
