The United States has instructed its diplomatic personnel in Pakistan to avoid any movement until further notice, citing unspecified security concerns, according to a statement from the US State Department on Saturday.
In a brief press interaction, the department said a fresh security advisory will be issued later this afternoon. "We have directed all diplomatic staff in Pakistan to restrict movement as a precautionary measure," a State Department spokesperson added.
While no immediate threat was publicly disclosed, officials suggested the advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution.
It remains unclear whether the advisory applies solely to staff in Islamabad or extends to consulates in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar.
