The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has cracked down on a significant smuggling network, uncovering a clandestine operation involving collusion between customs officials and smugglers.
The arrest of Abdulwaris in Faisalabad by FIA officials has shed light on a long-standing nexus facilitating the illegal trafficking of petroleum products, particularly Iranian petrol and diesel, into the country.
Abdulwaris, apprehended by FIA Faisalabad, confessed to his involvement in smuggling activities spanning a staggering 14 years. The seizure of a vehicle linked to the accused revealed a substantial haul of 10,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel, underscoring the scale of the illicit trade.
Shockingly, Abdulwaris implicated several customs officers in his confession, alleging their complicity in the smuggling enterprise. The accused's mobile phone provided damning evidence, exposing connections with Customs Superintendent Tanveer Waqas Gurayah, Mahmood Dogar, Ramzan Shahid, Anjam, Saleem, Khalid Gujjar, and others. Among the implicated officers, Customs Constable Liaquat Wasli emerged as a central figure in orchestrating the network's operations.
Liaquat Wasli's role was pivotal, as he allegedly collected exorbitant sums of money, amounting to 2.5 lakh rupees per person, from 14 godowns housing smuggled goods.
Sources within the FIA have hinted at the possibility of further revelations and arrests as the investigation unfolds. The uncovering of this smuggling ring underscores the challenges faced in combating organized crime and corruption within regulatory agencies.

In Harbanspora, the FIA Task Force has taken decisive action, sealing a factory responsible for manufacturing substandard and unregistered herbal medicines. Led by Chief Javed Sultan and Assistant Director Nair Tirmizi, the task force, including Drug Inspector Kamal Sikander, Inspector Shahzeb, Mudassar Noor, and Akram Sindhu, raided the facility.
The owner, Muhammad Ain Siddiqui, who identifies himself as a pharmacist, was apprehended during the operation. Investigations revealed alarming practices within the factory, including the production of herbal medicines in a highly substandard manner and the manufacturing of unregistered syrups under various names.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the factory's quality control unit machinery was defective, and raw materials were improperly stored on the premises. The prepared syrups were found to be filled in unclean drums and bottles, raising serious health concerns.
