As political manoeuvring to form a new government heats up, a group consisting of eight independent winning candidates has become important in regard to government formation.
The leadership of both PML-N and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party has contacted the lawmakers of the Chheena group. The clout says it will meet the leaders of both parties today.
As representatives of their respective parties, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and IPP chief Jahangir Tareen have contacted the like-minded group.
The group also held a meeting of all their independent members and discussed the contacts made by both parties. As per sources, the group agreed to play a role in government formation.
The like-minded MPs include Ghazanfar Abbas Chheena, Sardar Shahabuddin, Taimur Amjad Lali, Ghazanfar Qureshi, Ali Raza Khakwani, Ameer Muhammad Khan, Jahanzeb Khichhi and Sahibzada Ghazain Abbasi.
All efforts will be made to fulfil the aspirations of the people, the like-minded MPs from Punjab said in a statement.
