In a major decision, Islamabad Traffic Police has announced that drivers without a valid driving license will face strict legal action starting October 1. Offenders will not only be arrested but also have their vehicles impounded.
Strict orders from IG Islamabad
Islamabad Police Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi has issued clear directives to traffic police officials to implement the crackdown. After October 1, any driver found without a license will be booked under a case and taken into custody.
Drivers, vehicles to be detained
According to the new rules, both the driver and the vehicle will be detained at the police station. This applies to private as well as government drivers.
No personal guarantees or certificates
Sources revealed that character certificates will not be issued to anyone caught driving without a license until they obtain one. Additionally, there will be no provision for personal guarantees to release arrested drivers, further tightening the enforcement.
Facilities for govt drivers
To facilitate government employees, Islamabad Traffic Police has arranged licensing services at their offices. This step has been taken to make the process more convenient and to ensure that government drivers comply with the new regulations before the deadline.
Preparing for stricter traffic enforcement
Authorities have urged citizens to apply for driving licenses immediately to avoid penalties. Officials say the new enforcement drive is part of efforts to improve traffic management and reduce accidents caused by unlicensed driving.
