PESHAWAR: ‘Blue Whale,’ the game of horrible suicide challenge, which has reportedly left several teenagers dead in Europe, seems to be hunting down Pakistani youngsters.

The Blue Whale Game, also known as "Blue Whale Challenge", is an Internet "game" that is claimed to exist in several countries, including India. In the game, a series of challenges are given to teenagers by unknown strangers.

The unknown group of vigilantes asks for photographic proof from the teenagers who have accepted the challenge for each task given to them, and in the final task, the player is asked to take his/her own life. Reports say the Blue Whale change is mostly played by youths in depression.

Such cases have also surfaced in Pakistan.

According to our correspondent, at least five youngsters, including a girl, from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been admitted to Peshawar's Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) with symptoms of depression.

Dr. Imran, a psychiatrist in the hospital, said the victims reached the condition after playing the notorious suicide game and falling into its dangerous trap.

He said two of the victims belong to Mardan and Dera Ismail Khan areas of KP.

Dr. Imran said a girl was also affected by the game. “She was so depressed that she attempted to commit suicide,” he said. – Samaa
