Encroachment on Gujjar nullah is sinking Karachi

The nullah is buried under informal settlements

On July 27, monsoon rains sank at least half of Karachi and the reason is the city’s poor drainage system.

One key clue is Gujjar Nullah, located in the centre of Karachi city, which has been clogged with garbage or buried under informal settlements.

The city administration removed housing from Gujjar nullah several times but every time people returned.
