KARACHI: Education Fund for Sindh, a nonprofit organisation helping private schools educate children in low-income neighborhoods across the province, shut down its operations on Wednesday.
According to reports, the nonprofit was receiving funds from a UK-based organisation. However, upon an audit, it was discovered the fund was being embezzled.
The funding was then suspended, causing EFS to shut down its operation. This left more than 132,000 children out of school.
Also, the EFS website, www.efs.org.pk, though previously functioning, is now showing "down for maintenance". – SAMAA
