General Election 2018: Karachi’s NA-253 Azizabad, Sohrab Goth

NA-253 was previously known as NA-246

The MQM fielded Sheikh Salahuddin against Muhajir Qaumi Movement chief Afaq Ahmed and PSP’s heavyweight candidate, Arshad Vohra.

NA-253 was previously known as NA-246. The constituency covers areas such as Sohrab Goth, Gabol Town, Al-Noor Society, Timber Market, Ancholi, Yousuf Plaza, Water Pump, Gulberg, Azizabad, Hussainabad and Sharifabad. It has a large mixed population of Shias and Ismailis, Mohajirs, Pakhtun and Bengalis.

There are 506,309 voters registered in the constituency.
Of them, 273,076 are men and 233,233 women. A total 306 polling stations are located here.

There are other contestants vying for the constituency. The PPP fielded Liza Mehdi while the PTI gave its ticket to Muhammad Aslam Khan. MMA’s Rashid Naseem is also in the race.

Independent candidates Syed Rashid Rizvi, Muhammad Faisal and Danish Turabi are also contesting the election.
