Pakistan’s noted Sufi musician and rock guitarist Salman Ahmed on Monday drew a flak from Twitter users for his insensitive tweets, linking the suicide blast in Lahore with Panama Papers case.
Minutes after a suicide bomber struck Lahore, killing at least 26 people, the Sufi singer took to the popular micro-blogging website Twitter to express his opinion.
“Appeal to SC: How many blasts in Lahore are required for you to reach a judgement on #PanamaCase. Ppl don’t have infinite patience,” he tweeted.
In another tweet, he said every time Nawaz Sharif faces accountability, terrorism in Lahore & elsewhere rears its threatening head.
“Corrupt status quo want to create fear & chaos before Panama decision by SC. sad that ordinary ppl have to give the ultimate sacrifice.”
His tweets were met with an angry response from Tweeple. Here are some of the tweets.
As per your assessment blasts would have been highest in Pakistan history during Panama trial but sadly the case is other way round

Salman, for crying out loud man. Not tonight! We all want Nawaz down but show some maturity. There’s a time & place for everything

After listening to his new music and reading his tweets, I believe real Salman Ahmed has been replaced by someone wearing his mask.

It’s basic decency & a Sufi norm to choose silence over nonsense. But perhaps tasawwuf not as important as your political nafs.
