Pakistani civil society activists carry placards during a protest in Islamabad on July 18, 2016 against the murder of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch by her own brother. The brother of a murdered Pakistani celebrity said he is "not embarrassed" to have killed her, as Qandeel Baloch's death reignited polarising calls for action against the "epidemic" of honour killings. A man shot dead his 24-year-old daughter and injured another man in the name of ‘honour’ in the Jan Mohammad Brohi village in Nawabshah, police said.

Sakima was killed by her father, Akbar, and uncle after they found her in a compromising position with a man, Wahid Bux Brohi, who was critically injured in the incident and shifted to Civil Hospital, Nawabshah.

Kadhar SHO Ghulam Hussain Peerzado said Akbar and his brother were arrested by the police and confessed to the crime.

Two separate FIRs were registered against the accused. One was registered on behalf of the state and the other on the complaint of Ghulam Mohammad, the brother of the injured man.

Sakima’s body was handed over to a notable of the area for burial following a post-mortem examination.
