NEW YORK: A 57-year-old American female astronaut made history as she became the oldest woman in the world with the most number of spacewalks.
A foreign news agency reported that that Peggy Whitson performed her eighth spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) to surpass the record of seven held by Suni Williams of the United States.
She has spent over 500 days outside Earth, which is more than any other woman in history.

Whitson and her station commander Shane Kimbrough completed preparations for a new docking port at the station.
The docking port will serve as a “parking spot” for upcoming space missions and will help companies to transport its crews.
