An unreliable online source yesterday said that Whatsapp was going to introduce a new ‘feature.’ This news has since spread like wildfire on social media, pleasing some people, whereas on the other hand the widely held expressed their fury.
The latest feature that was expected to commence from February 5, would notify you each time someone took a screenshot of your conversation. Several people on social media expressed their viewpoints on whether this feature is harmful or beneficial.
The online source that revealed this news said that the online messaging service’s “CEO” had confirmed and announced the news himself.
“The functioning is simple, just like the blue tick: You will have the option activated by default. If it’s checked, you’ll be notified if someone screenshots your conversation, and others will be notified if you screenshot theirs. If it’s unchecked, no one gets notified.”
Rumors regarding frequently used mobile applications have become common on social media. A similar rumor about Instagram surfaced last year on social media as well, where users would receive a notification each time someone took a screenshot of a your photo or conversation.
However, it is important to note that announcements made via such unreliable platforms should not always be believed and always reconfirmed before believing. Just like the Instagram rumor, the Whatsapp new feature rumor turned out to be false as well.
So, those that like to take screenshots can continue do to so and, those that were excited for this feature will just have to wait until Whatsapp officially announces a feature like this.
