Google’s Bangladesh domain ‘google.com.bd’ was taken down today this morning by hackers claiming to be from Pakistan.

Bangladesh users complained that they were unable to access the search engine using ‘Google chrome’ since Tuesday morning.

When they typed and tried to access the ‘google.com.bd’, a black screen appeared with this note
Google Bangladesh STAMPED by Team Pak Cyber Attackers”.

“Security is just an illusion,” the message by the hackers read.

The hackers that claim to be from Pakistan identified themselves as “Faisal 1337”, and also left there Facebook profile link along with the email ID.

“It has been compromised. Some hacker group … they are claiming they did it.”, says Ahmed Sabir chief strategy officer for Fibre At Home Sumon.

All search queries from Bangladesh go through the gateway of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited or BTCL, he said.

“The hackers have redirected the information for ‘google.com.bd’ on BTCL’s DNS entry, he said. So Google users have been landing in other pages” he added while explaining the whole situation how it happened.

The ‘google.com.bd’ restored later in the afternoon. “There had been a problem, which has been fixed,” Director (PR) Mir Mohammad Morshed.
