KARACHI: Dr. Syed Ali Akbar Naqvi, a senior art critic, historian and father-in-law of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar passed away leaving the art community sad.

Dr. Naqvi was born in Indian province of Bihar on February 21, 1931. He had masters degree in English literature from Patna University and got his doctorate in the same subject from London’s Liverpool University.

From his youthful days, he was more intent on critique than creation. Several magazines and periodicals published his critical reviews on Pakistan’s cultural art.

He authored a book on Shahid Rassam during his last days after his book on Shahid Sajjad.

It should be mentioned here that his son-in-law Asad Umar broke report of his death on micro-blogging website. –SAMAA
