UAE announces holiday to celebrate new Islamic Year

ABU DHABI: Workers in the UAE will enjoy a three-day weekend beginning September 30 – returning to work on October 3.

Sunday October 2, 2016, will be an official paid holiday for all public and private sector employees in the UAE, in celebration of the Islamic New Year 1438, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiritisation and Dubai Media Office announced on Monday.

The announcement was made by Saqr Gobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiritisation.
