WhatsApp groups can be very annoying especially if you didn’t join them with your consent. The social media app is now working to fix the problem.

A new feature will let users customize their settings and decide which people can add them to groups.

The feature will be rolling out in a few weeks worldwide and is currently available for a few users, according to The Next Web.

Here’s how users can access the option:

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Accounts  >  Privacy

Tap on Groups, and select the most suitable from the three options.

  1. Nobody (prevents anyone from adding you and notifies the user to send an invitation that you can approve)
  2. My contacts (only your contacts can add you to a group without an invitation)
  3. Anyone (Anyone can add you to a group without an invitation)

If you are concerned about your privacy, you can select from the first two options.

In September 2016, the company introduced a feature where users can tag you in a group, making it impossible to ignore group conversations.

The new feature, however, will be a great way to ignore the ‘annoying’ group chats.
