Mohammad Rizwan-led unit register 80-run win
Multan Sultans have strengthened their position in a race for a spot in the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 as they registered a thumping 80-run win against Lahore Qalandars in match 28 in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
After being asked to bat first, Sultans managed to post a competitive total of 169 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The star of the show was right-handed batsman Sohaib Maqsood who scored 60 off 40 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes.
He was well-supported by Sohail Tanvir who played a handy cameo at the backend of the innings of 26 off nine balls—which included 24 off the last over from Haris Rauf.
For Lahore, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of the bowlers as he registered figures of three for 23 in his quota of four overs.
In reply, Qalandars never really got going and were bundled out for just 89 in 15.1 overs, 81 runs short of the target.
The star of the show with the ball in hand was young Shahnawaz Dhani and veteran pacer Imran Khan.
The youngster registered figures of four for five in 3.1 overs whereas Imran claimed three wickets and gave away 24 runs.
With that result, Peshawar Zalmi have also managed to secure their place in the playoffs of the PSL 2021.

Senior sports journalist Shahid Hashmi believes Sohaib Maqsood should be a part of Pakistan’s T20I teams for the upcoming tours of England and the West Indies. Do you agree?
Sohaib Maqsood pressing his claims for a berth in the plane for England and the West Indies… @sohaibcricketer he won’t need a ticket as well because the plane is chartered for the squad ! #HarHaalMainCricket #PSL6— Shahid Hashmi (@hashmi_shahid) June 18, 2021
