The Chief Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan has said that the England tour is scheduled to go ahead as planned despite 10 players testing positive out of the 29-member squad.
“The tour to England is very much on track and the side will depart as per schedule on June 28,” Wasim said as quoted by the PCB on its press release. “All the first-choice red-ball squad, except for wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, has been tested negative for coronavirus which means they can start training and practice immediately after they have been tested and given the all clear when they arrive in England.”
He added that head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq is reviewing the training schedule in England and devising plans for reserve players to be tested as the team’s backup plans.
The PCB chief executive stated that the players who have been tested positive will be monitored and supported.
Wasim said that the players that have been diagnosed with the virus have been advised to go into self-isolation so that they not only recover quickly but also prevent their family members from being infected.
