Five out of seven members of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors chose to boycott Wednesday’s meeting in Quetta over the appointment of new managing director Waseem Khan.
They were not comfortable with the amendments made in the domestic structure and delegating their powers to the managing director. They demanded that departmental and regional cricket should not be compromised.
Nauman Butt, Kabir Ahmed, Shah Dost, Ayaz Butt and Shazar Abdullah were the members who boycotted the meeting.
PCB Chairperson Ehsan Mani said they were hoping that suggestions to improve the board would be given at the meeting. “It was depressing to see today’s incident,” Mani said.
“We had a discussion with Balochistan’s chief minister to improve cricket in the province,” he said. He said the meeting was adjourned due to an incomplete quorum. The members’ demands should be taken into consideration, he added.
