Ammad Butt, Umar Akmal guide Balochistan to 72-run win
Ammad Butt and Umar Akmal guided Balochistan to a 72-run victory over Sindh in Pakistan Cup 2019 in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
It is Balochistan’s second successive win in the tournament.
Ammad was named player of the match for his 18-ball 42 which inclided five fours and two sixes which helped Balochistan score 346-9 in 50 overs. He finished with the bowling figures of 3-58 as Sindh were dismissed for 274 in 44.2 overs.
Sindh, in chase of 347-run target, were given an early impetus as Umar Siddiq scored 88 from 64 balls with 12 fours and two sixes to his name. He scored a 92-run partnership for the second wicket with Ahsan Ali who scored 42.
Umar Amin went on to score 60 off 68 balls while Aamer Yamin made 46 from 41 deliveries.
Aamer’s dismissal sparked a final collapse for Sindh as the side were bowled out for 274 in the 45th over.
Mohammad Irfan finished with figures of 2-58 as Balochistan moved to the top with two wins.
Earlier in the day, Umar Akmal played another sublime innings as he played a blistering knock of 99 runs from 66 balls. He was unfortunate to miss-out on a second consecutive century after an inside-edge came crashing on to his stumps.
Balochistan captain Asad Shafiq scored 53 while opener Zeeshan Ashraf made 75 for the side. They added 100 runs for the second-wicket.
Hammad Azam and Nauman Ali took two wickets each for Sindh.
