Regular skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed rests for UAE series that begins just days after end of PSL
Pakistan have announced a much-changed side for the upcoming series of Australia in the UAE, with Shoaib Malik leading a team that will feature several new faces.
The selection committee, headed by chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, announced the surprise-laden team on Friday.
Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal makes his return into the squad after impressing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Quetta Gladiators.
Umar, however, will not be led by Quetta and Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, with the wicketkeeper batsman opting to rest ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
The PSL usually adds a few names to the Pakistan roster every year and this year is no different, with Umar’s Quetta teammates Saad Ali and Mohammad Hasnain also making their way into the squad.

Three players more used to donning the whites in Yasir Shah, Muhammad Abbas and Shan Masood also feature in the squad and will be having designs of making their way into the management’s reckoning ahead of the World Cup.
