Pakistan likely to announce squad for Australia ODI series on March 9

The five-match ODI series kicks off in Sharjah on March 22

Pakistan are expected to announce the squad for the upcoming one-day international series against Australia on March 9.

The selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called a meeting on Friday, March 8, in Karachi.

Head coach Mickey Arthur will discuss resting skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed for the series. According to the selection committee, the Pakistani captain has refused the coach’s offer.

The selection board is also thinking of resting Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam for two to three games.

Young batsmen Abid Ali and Saad Ali are likely to be given chance in the series while the names of Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad and Waqas Maqsood are also under consideration.

Pakistan will play a five-match ODI series against Australia starting from March 22 in Sharjah.  The second fixture will be contested on the same venue on March 24. The third ODI will take place on March 27 in Abu Dhabi. The fourth and fifth ODI will be played in Dubai on March 29 and 31.
