Quetta Gladiators won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 after clinching an eight-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi in the final at the National Stadium of Karachi on Sunday.

The Gladiators won the toss and chose to field in the final.

Zalmi openers Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal did not live up to their expectations and both were dismissed early without contibuting any significant number of runs.

Only Umar Amin provided some resistance to the Quetta Gladiators as he scored 38 runs off 33 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes.

Mohammad Hasnain finished with figures of 3-30 in four overs and was given man of the match award.

The former champions finished at 138-8 in their 20 overs.

In chase of 139-run target, Shane Watson fell early as he was run out for just seven runs. Ahmed Shehzad and Ahsan Ali took the attack to the Zalmi bowlers with their 47-run partnership on the second wicket.

After Ahsan went back to the pavilion after scoring 25, Ahmed Shehzad and Rilee Rossouw made sure that their side complete the run chase without further wobbles.

They scored an unbeaten 73-run partnership on the third wicket. Shehzad top-scored with 58 off 51 deliveries which included six fours and a maximums.
