Former India cricketer joins Modi’s BJP, likely to contest election from Delhi

Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian opener, has joined PM Narendra Modi’s BJP and is likely to contest election from Delhi.

According to Times of India, the former Indian cricketer will contest elections from one of the seven seats in Delhi. The elections in India will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.

“I am joining this party (BJP) after getting influenced by PM Narendra Modi’s vision,” Gambhir said. “I am honoured to get the opportunity to join this platform.”

Gambhir played a key role in India’s victory in the finals of 2011 and 2007 World Cups.
